The country which was supposed to be just a stage of their long journey, actually turned into their final destination. In addition to them, also Italians, already settled in Tunisia were forced to move due to French laws which imposed their French naturalization. Having landed in Casablanca in a daring way, the Italians managed to build a stable life made up of work and happy moments. Two major events marked the end of this community: the Second World War and the “Maroccanization”, but their presence in the territory is still alive in the memory of Moroccans; traces of their work are still present in the cities today. In the ‘90s, many Moroccan inhabitants decided to emigrate to Italy, giving rise to a migratory flow of Italians and Moroccans that continues to this day.
