THE POWERFUL BATTITO OF THE SOGLIOLA

THE POWERFUL BATTITO OF THE SOGLIOLA

2026 • 21 min • Italy
THE POWERFUL BEAT OF THE SOGLIOLA is a film about the dignity of memory, a fierce critique of the consumerism of emotions and objects; it is a hymn to everything that, beneath a dented bodywork, still finds the strength to cry out its own existence. The world moves at a frantic pace; the watchword is "replace". As the product of a culture that discards whatever is no longer high-performing, society decides behind closed doors who is now too old to exist, or which objects must be thrown away. The parallel is ruthless: the elderly man and Blanca, the old Fiat 126 Bis, suffer the exact same fate. They are switched off, sidelined, and stripped of their purpose because they are deemed obsolete, even though both still function beautifully. This is the shared destiny of human beings and objects in the era of planned obsolescence, where "still working" is no longer enough if one bears the guilt of being old. The film portrays all the dignity, nostalgia, and silent rage of those who are scrapped by a society that refuses to listen. The language constantly operates on a dual track: the human one (old age, feeling useless, "smelling of the elderly") and the mechanical one (dented bodywork, rust, sensors, batteries). It is a poignant metaphor for old age, the planned obsolescence of feelings, and the beauty of imperfect things that, beneath the rust, still safeguard a soul capable of screaming.

Water Communities

Water Communities

2025 • 30 min • Italy
The documentary intertwines stories and testimonies from the Basilicata region, from the towns of San Martino d'Agri, Tito, Picerno, and Terranova di Pollino, reconstructing the deep bond between inhabitants and water, the source of life, work, and identity. From the mill and the fulling mill, once the driving forces of an economy based on water power, to the vegetable gardens still irrigated today by the river's canals, the story unfolds as a choral narrative in which past and present dialogue. It begins with the commitment of a cultural association which, faced with depopulation, reacts with participatory actions aimed at enhancing the valley of the mills and promoting slow tourism. Then emerge the stories of a set designer who reconstructs the fulling mill by collecting the memories of the elderly, and of a mountain guide who builds a model mill to save knowledge and stories from oblivion. Finally, the common thread of water accompanies the community of market gardeners, guardians of a living relationship with the river. Thus, memory becomes action and heritage is transformed into a resource of identity, embodying the spirit of the Faro Convention.

2026 • 14 min • Canada
When a bickering couple breaks down on a remote highway, their already-tense relationship is hijacked by White Hat, an overzealous Good Samaritan whose “western hospitality” is as relentless as it is unhelpful. Armed with unsolicited wisdom and a gift basket fit for royalty, White Hat inserts himself deeper and deeper into their personal drama, convinced he’s saving the day. Stranded without cell service and drowning in his kindness, the couple is forced to confront their own issues while navigating the escalating absurdity of their self-appointed guardian angel. But as White Hat’s folksy meddling unexpectedly nudges them toward honesty, he eventually rides off in search of new souls to “help,” leaving behind a shaken but newly reconnected pair. A comedic ode to prairie hospitality, White Hat blends awkward generosity, relationship chaos, and heartfelt absurdity into a charming roadside encounter that proves sometimes the strangest detours lead somewhere good.

Daddy

Daddy

2024 • 3 min • India
Daddy is a 2 minute 59 second AI-generated music video created as a tribute to the filmmaker’s grandfather in Kerala, India. The project began with a poem written years earlier about his influence on childhood. That poem became the lyrical foundation for the song. The vocals and melody were generated using Suno based on the original lyrics. Each visual scene was created individually using Sora, guided by detailed, line-by-line prompt engineering. Every lyric was translated into a corresponding visual concept before being rendered through iterative prompt cycles. The final assembly and edit were completed in VideoLeap. No live-action footage was used. Both the audio and visual layers were generated through AI systems, with the human role focused on intention, memory, and iterative refinement. Daddy has been recognized by the India Book of Records and is widely regarded as one of the first fully AI-generated music videos created using prompt engineering for both song and visuals. The film explores how emerging AI tools can be shaped to tell deeply personal stories rooted in lived experience.
