Tome Of The Unknown is an animated short about Wirt and Gregory who get tired of walking so they borrow a car from a romantic songster made of vegetables. This film was produced by Cartoon Network Studios in Burbank, CA and stars Elijah Wood as Wirt.

It's another Terry festival of cats against the mice in large numbers. I think that Walt Disney, who is said to have started suing other purveyors of cartoon mice about this time, did his competitors a favor. "Stop imitating me! Find something you can do well!" Even given the fact that this is exactly the sort of cartoon that Terry had been making since about 1920 for van Beuren, it comes off pretty well. For me, the years when Terry was releasing through Educational were his best. His staff experimented. They turned out some cartoons for adults. Here they play around with grey gradients that give a beautiful shimmer to this one -- or perhaps they always did that, but the print use for this transfer to the Cartoon Research site is in better shape than most of the others.Whatever the reasons, this cartoon, set at a beach side amusement park, is pretty good. A lot of it is set in the "Haunted House" and so this is a fine cartoon for a Halloween show, if your tastes run that way.

Charley, representing a manufacturer of musical instruments, is sent to investigate why certain mail orders have not been settled. Charley, carrying multiple bulky instruments, boards a train and gives the conductor, the porter, and the passengers a terrible night as he tries to settle into his upper berth. Arriving at his rural destination of Beaver Dam, Charley masquerades as a hillbilly to track down the missing instruments. At the barn dance, he sings "Handsome Jim."

Wow...how low Mack Sennett and Andy Clyde sank to doing a god-awful short like "Monkey Business in Africa". It's truly terrible, cheap, and unfunny...a bad combination, that's for sure.When the story begins, an airplane flying over Africa runs out of gas and the filmmaker and his team are forced to bail out. Once on the ground, all sorts of unfunny hijinks occur...such as a fight with an obviously fake crocodile (and the live ones are actually American Alligators) and a guy in a gorilla suit that is about the most fake I've ever seen!Overall, not a laugh to be had in this badly made short...not even one.

Foxy is a policeman on the beat. He has no trouble with a single criminal who pops out of a trashcan and sprays bullets at him with a machine gun. Foxy has his own gun. It shoots out an expandable arm with a platform on the end. A mouse with a mallet stands on the platform and knocks the criminal unconscious. Foxy has a bit more trouble with a hippo who runs him over. She begs him not to fine her. He gives in, but throws a trashcan over her head to show his contempt. Foxy's real trouble begins with a gang of criminals armed with a grenade, a machine gun and mouthfuls of tobacco juice. They kidnap Foxy's girlfriend. The bushy-tailed cop hops on a wooden horse, and the chase is on.
