The Roxy Theater is having its Grand Opening on Christmas Night (or else Santa Claus and his reindeer are just making a trial run), and Cubby can't get in as it's S.R.O, but he manages to sneak in and finds himself in the theater's Music Room, but not for long. He falls through a trapdoor (on the second floor) and is soon rising to the orchestra conductor's podium on the first floor and is even sooner conducting the orchestra in a presentation of Faust (but somebody is singing about Figaro). Lots of sight gags, voice-caricatures, racial stereotypes, and the usual allotment of risqué moments in a Pre-Code cartoon.

Lita runs a greeting card store next to an underhanded but formidable competitor. She tries a novel idea, that her cards will be short recorded messages or songs on flexible gramophone records. This proves successful, and many people use them, including a Hillbilly band and Lita herself. A second brainstorm is to press the discs in chocolate. These attract kids, including toddler Sammy Davis Jnr. He downs a record and a phonograph needle, and subsequently, the "St. Louis Blues" emanate from his body, for which he's hospitalized.

A vaudeville show is playing, but the bottom billed act of Heely-Heely-Heely and Heely (first names Ted, Larry, Curly, and Moe) have just been fired because Ted has been fooling around with girls, telling them he can get them into show business, which, in turn, always gets him into trouble. Their next job is as waiters in a restaurant that has a floor show. Since they end up not being very adept waiters, which causes much havoc amongst themselves and with the customers, they sit back, eat the food, watch and enjoy (sort of) the floor show and, in turn, take it over, much to the restaurant manager's chagrin. As the havoc continues, Ted has a fitting conclusion to his problems.

Then, a clip from another amusement park showing strongman Bluto stealing Olive away to a roller-coaster while Popeye rings a strength-testing bell repeatedly. Olive, having seen this, no longer wants anything to do with Bluto and walks out. Bluto exposes Popeye and chases Olive into a Tunnel of Love; Popeye follows and trashes Bluto.
