One of the most vivid depictions of the horrors of Nazi Concentration Camps. Filmed in 1955 at several concentration camps in Poland, the film combines new color and black and white footage with black and white newsreels, footage shot by the victorious allies, and stills, to tell the story not only of the camps, but to portray the horror of man's brutal inhumanity. Deep Time of Latent Space relates the strata of human activity within large language models as another layer of the Anthropocene, which places AI into the realm of geological thinking that spirals into deep time and broadcasts into the future. The AI narrator takes us through the most incomprehensible moments of our history starting with the big bang, creation of earth, and the start of life. It uses its generalized knowledge to resolve our grasp of these moments into data-visualized images. It does so with confidence and a little bit of attitude, however, it tends to hallucinate. These hallucinations shine a light on what is needed to create a more ethical and accurate AI. The Jefferson Project at Lake George uses specific and local data to understand the impact of human activity on fresh water, and how to mitigate those effects. A short interview with Dr. Jeremy Farrell shares how the Jefferson Project uses machine learning to create predictive models for understanding the patterns of past and reaching into the future to assist in preservation. A useful model for understanding the value of the local and self-generated databases. Lake George was also chosen as a site of deep time and for its art historical significance. At the birth of geology in the nineteenth century the emerging science was in vogue. Many painters from the Hudson River School including John Frederick Kensett, Thomas Cole, and other painters painted portraits of rocks at the lake's shores. This po

A short satirical fiction film, originally made for the Sci-Fi London 48h film challenge. In 2044, Earth has been polluted to such an extent that humanity subsists on a diet of ‘Manna-Moolah’, a white, tasteless substance made with minerals mined on asteroid MSG100 by the omnipotent RON corporation. Its former chief chemist, Professor Markus Pokus developed Manna-Moolah with the hope of saving humanity from starvation. Instead, Ai took over and altered the chemistry so that it now renders humans numb and docile. To ensure total dominance on society, The RON corporation has wiped all culinary knowledge from the internet and destroyed all cookery books. Against it, Victor Kenstein, Professor Pokus’ former pupil, has been leading the Camden Underground, a resistance group charged with collecting seeds and food recipes to save onboard “the Ark”, a spaceship disguised as a restaurant, concealed inside a hotel built in the heart of Kings Cross. The time has come for the Ark to fulfil its true purpose and save humanity remaining culinary knowledge, as the wanton resource extraction from MSG100 has been so efficient that the asteroid has lost its centre of gravity and is now hurtling towards Earth. With 5 hours before the asteroid impact, Victor has tracked down his former mentor in a desperate bid to get him onboard and leave Earth before it’s too late.

Running the mile race in under four minutes has long been a benchmark for the distance. The significant runners and races from the early 1920s to the first sub-four-minute mile and beyond are presented. In the early 1920s, Finn Paavo Nurmi was the preeminent racer, who revolutionized the strategy to run the distance most effectively, clocking a then world record time of 4:10.4 in 1924. In 1931, the post-Nurmi era saw Frenchman Jules Ladoumègue first break Nurmi's long-standing world record at 4:09.2, which rekindled the pursuit of the four-minute barrier. Races designed to break the world record were held, one such seeing Brit Sidney Wooderson break the record in a specially devised handicapped race with pacers. The four-minute barrier was finally broken by Aussie John Landy in a race in Finland in 1954 with a time of 3:58. In what was considered the greatest mile race up until then at the 1954 Empire Games in Vancouver, Landy and Brit Roger Bannister ran the first ever mile race with two men under the four-minute barrier, Bannister on top. And finally in a race in Los Angeles in 1956, Joe Bailey ran probably the fastest lap ever in a mile race to that time to win in the first ever sub-four-minute mile run in the United States.

A tenor, in suit and tie, with a receding hairline, sings a ballad to his love, "Your face is like a song," to simple piano accompaniment. As he sings about his love's face, his own face goes through phantasmagoric changes, beginning with his warbling mouth moving about. As the singing continues, his face twists, turns, explodes, liquefies, becomes block-shaped, multiples, curls, disappears in sections and all at once, and always reconfigures itself serenely into its original shape. As the song ends, the camera pans back revealing the man sitting in a chair on the green field of mother earth. She may have a face and designs of her own.
